    Medicinal Chemistry

The ultimate goal of Medicinal Chemistry is to study and create new drug candidates, which involves the application of a number of specialized disciplinary approaches, including drug-target identification, rational drug-design and structure-activity relationship investigation, synthetic methodology development and process chemistry, and structural biology, etc. Towards this goal, a wide range of techniques that include synthetic organic chemistry, computational chemistry, and high-throughput screening are all used by medicinal chemists.

The Department of Medicinal Chemistry, College of Pharmacy, NKU, consists of 18 full-time faculty, more than 100 full-time graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and other research staff. The research programs of faculty including but limited structure-based drug design, synthetic chemistry, chemical biology, natural products chemistry, and invested in major therapeutic areas, including cancer, antiviral, anti-infectives, and liver fibrosis research.

Graduates of NKU Medicinal Chemistry are highly valued in both academia and industry. Our research platform provides exciting opportunities to both our current and future graduate students.

    Pharmacology

The discipline of pharmacology is the key building discipline of the College of Pharmacy of Nankai University, which is dedicated to the cultivation of composite talents and the innovative scientific research in pharmacology. The faculty and students of the discipline of pharmacology adhered to the motto " Dedication to public interests, acquisition of all-round capability, and aspiration for progress with each passing day " and focus on the frontier scientific problems in the field of pharmacology. The discipline of pharmacology has a good foundation in the field of innovative drug creation, drug targets discovery, and interdisciplinary research.

The discipline of pharmacology focuses on the construction of the scientific research echelon and reasonably equipped with technical staff and managers. After years of development, the discipline of pharmacology has established a professional talent team. The faculty structure of the college was reasonable, and the academic achievements were high. There are currently full-time teachers 75, including professors 29, associate professors18, and doctoral degree holders75, accounting for the total number of teachers100%.

The research direction of the discipline of pharmacology closely connects with the various links of drug research and development, including 1) disease mechanisms and new drug targets, 2) drug design, synthesis and screening. 3) bioanalysis and drug delivery. Research areas are involved in a variety of common human diseases, including viral infection, tumors, diabetes, pulmonary fibrosis, etc.
