Recently,  Professor Xi Rimo and Associate Professor Meng Meng of the School of  Pharmacy of Nankai University published a research paper entitled "A Tumor Targeting Near Infrared Heptamethine Cyanine Photosensitizer with  Twisted Molecular Structure for Enhanced Imaging Guided Cancer Phototherapy" in J. Am. Chem. Soc., an international famous academic  journal.  The research team designed and synthesized a tumor targeted  near-infrared photosensitizer T780T: introducing a twisted structure of tetraphenylethylene (TPE) between two molecular cyanine photosensitizers  IR780 to improve its photothermal conversion efficiency and  photothermal stability.  The molecule T780T can be self-assembled into uniform nano aggregates  in the aqueous phase. After the tumor bearing mice were injected into  the tail vein, the T780T aggregates showed significant tumor  accumulation effect. The treatment method of once administration and  twice laser irradiation realized more significant tumor inhibition  effect.
